Sunday Afternoon

Most Sunday afternoons we head down to Jared and Megan's for dinner and games.  I love going down there.  It's fun to play with the kiddos and visit with family.  It's just a great place to be.  This past Sunday it was time to take some pictures, these kids are growing up way too fast!

Finally.......

My dear, sweet, husband has this one love...long hair.  HIS long hair.  I love him so I let him grow it out...to a point...and then I subtly start hinting to him that we need to cut it...the key word here, SUBTLY, of course.  I'm glad I have some back-up on this, Adri and Nita sure help me out!  For years Landen's Christmas and  Birthday gift to his mom was getting his hair cut.  HA!  He's such a funny guy. 

Well, we hit that point (probably about a month ago!) and I had to start my subtle hints...the end one being, "Your hair is longer in the back than MINE is!"  Yuck.  After much harrassment from Adri, Nita and myself, Landen finally came around and said, "Okay..." when I asked if we could cut his hair.  One battle down. Ha. Yes, I know this will probably go on for the rest of our lives...I signed up for this, I know :)  We had to take some pictures to document the moment...and they just don't do the long hair justice, it was out of control!

Smartphones

For months now we have been looking into cell phone plans and trying to figure out what to do.  We were both on family plans with our parents but our 2 years were coming up and we'd have to make a decision on what to do.  After lots of talking and going into stores and checking out plans we figured that our cheapest option would be to put Landen on the family plan with my parents...he was a little sad because he had to have an Indiana phone number (we're just getting him thinking about the idea of Indiana little by little...wink, wink), but I told him it was that or no data!  We bought him a phone for Christmas that he wanted really badly and it could only be used on AT&T or T-Moblie and let's be honest, AT&T is much better service!  Thanks Mom and Dad for letting him join up with us!  As time went on and we got closer to adding him on I started thinking about getting a new phone because I had my upgrade...and I walked out with a smart phone too.  Mine was much cheaper though so that made me feel better about it.  It has been fun to play with...but there's nothing like a "smartphone" to make me feel stupid!  I've gotten so frustrated a few times and have to just hand it to Landen and say, "Fix it," or "Make. It. Work."  Grrrr. But all in all it's been a good change.  We've been having fun with our phones.  It was a little bit of a ridicuous situation getting Landen set up because of dumb customere service people (which we won't even go into), but we had this other guy that was AWESOME and fixed it all and got Landen up and going.  He was pretty happy!  So here's to our new smartphones!

Saving 3 Lives!

Today Landen and I were able to donate blood at our Stake Blood Drive.  I kinda love donating blood! Yes, I know, that may sound weird, but I do love it.  The only part I don't love is the finger prick...and when they miss when they're sticking the needle in and have to wiggle it around...which happened this time...ugh!  But it's all for a good cause!  I'm so grateful for my health and it's just one way I can share that and help others.  I love knowing that I'm helping to save 3 lives every time I donate.  Our bodies are truly amazing gifts and I'm so glad we were able to share that gift today!

"The Vow"

My friend, Jess, got some free tickets to a pre-screening of the new movie, "The Vow," for last night and she invited me and some other friends!  It was a fun girls night out!  I'm such a sucker for chick flicks...and movie theater popcorn!!!  YUM.  Since it was a pre-screening there were all these rules about cell phones and electronic devices.  They made us check them and they put them in brown paper sacks with numbers on them and they kept them out of the theater...interesting...and I wasn't quick enough to put it in my pocket while they checked my purse...anyway, it was all fine, but still kinda weird. 

The movie was pretty good, of course it made me cry.  I realized how much I let myself get sucked into a movie...I realized that I end up kinda putting myself in the situation and thinking about what I would do if it was me, which makes me cry even more!  Our friend Ashley told me I provided her the entertainment of the nigth when she saw me crying...glad I could help.  It made me appreciate Landen more and more.  When I got home I told him to never forget who I am! HA!  Anyway, it was such a fun night!

"One of those days..."

This past Tuesday I had "one of those days" packed into an HOUR...on my lunch break!  It was crazy.  I was so glad when that day was over.  So, the day started off fine, I was a little tired but oh well.  I took the truck to work because is was really low on gas and when I got in the check oil light was on, but life goes on and I figured we would just check it and put some oil in. 

Okay, so lunch break comes and I head over to the bank to put in my paycheck.  I usually just deposit my check in to the ATM but they had it all torn apart and open so I decided to go to a different bank.  Halfway there it dawns on me, "Duh, Aubrie, you could have gone INTO the bank!!!"  It did not even cross my mind!  Wow.  I continue to the other bank and deposit my check.

Since I was close to Sam's Club I figured I would fill up the truck.  I get over there and start the gas. I check the oil and it's really low so I decided I'd go after work and pick some up.  I have this quirk where I like my gas price to be an even dollar amount.  So I was just paying attention to that and not the fact the the pump kept clicking and telling me to stop.  I finish up, get my receipt, get back in the truck and start to text Landen to let him know the gas mileage.  All of a sudden the attendant comes up to my window and looks at me all worried and motions for my to move the truck up quickly.  I'm all flustered and kill it then forget the emergency break is on...oh man!  I get out and he tells me it's leaking gas really bad and I must have a hole somewhere.  Then he says to me, "You probably should call your husband...or boyfriend...or whoever it is..."  Okay. Time Out. Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I can't drive a truck. Stupid guy.  Time In.  Then he asks if I might have overfilled the tank...and it hits me, yep I probably did that!  I'm such a dork.  I told him I was going into Sam's for lunch and I would check it and make sure it stops leaking, which it had done by the time I drove up to the store.  I go in and wash my hands and head over to get some lunch.

I get my pizza and went to fill up my drink and round three hits me!  I usually tilt my cup some so the pop runs onto the side of the cup to help with the foaming...as I did that I accidentally pushed the one next to mine with my cup and pop flows freely all over my hand!  What is going on?!  Ridiculous.  Sheesh.  I had to eat super fast because by this point I needed to be getting back to work soon.  I was never so happy that my lunch break was over!

I thought it was all out of my system until I was typing in a payment in the credit card machine at work and next thing I know I was closing out that batch!  My fingers had a mind of their own!  I left work and went to get oil for the truck but I didn't know exactly what I needed.  There's a book about the truck that I was looking in to figure it out, but nowhere in it did it tell me the type of oil.  Grrrr...I eventually had to call a friend and ask him.  To top it all off, I got to check out and there is no bar code on the funnel.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!  I just needed that day to be over...and I was so glad when it was.  I don't need any more of those.  Bye, bye day of craziness.

Gelish ~ Gel Polish

So happy! So, I got this stuff from Sally Beauty Supply that is basically the "do it yourself" version of shellac for nails...it is freaking amazing for the following reasons: 1. Okay, it was a little pricey to get started but will totally pay for itself in a few uses. 2. My nails were done in less than one hour (regular nail polish takes hourSSSS due to having to let it dry...and it never really dries before it gets ruined, I always wake up with blanket prints in my polish...) and DRY DRY DRY when I was done, I could do anything I wanted. 3. It should last at least 14 days if not longer with no chipping!!! Oh I am so stoked!!! Totally worth my splurge.

My first round I did on my nails lasted 9 days.  Even if it wasn't the 14 days I was told I am still a happy camper.  They looked GREAT the entire time and lasted much longer than any regular polish.  It was totally worth it.  I just did my second set tonight and they look fabulous!  I got a new color today and it's hot!  I am so in L.O.V.E. with Gelish.  It has changed my nail polishing life forever!  Oh, and you can use just the top coat over regular nail polish and cure it (basically let it "cook" under the light) and it will help that last much longer than usual.  I'll have to try that some day.  Anyway, I'm so happy with my purchase!  I get distracted by my nails daily now because they're so pretty!!!  Okay, I'm done being super girly now.
